Aufgrund des starken Kostenwachstums verzeichnete die 2. Bundesliga ein negatives Ergebnis. Insgesamt gaben die Clubs 33,1 Millionen Euro mehr aus, als sie einnahmen. Acht Clubs erwirtschafteten einen Gewinn, im Vorjahr waren es elf. Auf EBITDA-Basis verbuchten 16 Clubs einen Gewinn. Im Schnitt lag das EBITDA der Vereine und Kapitalgesellschaften bei 3,6 Millionen Euro, insgesamt bei 64,1 Millionen Euro und damit nur geringfügig unter dem Vorjahreswert.
